Black Sesame Tofu, 100 g
A local specialty of Nagasaki, sesame tofu is said to have been brought by Buddhist monks in the 17th century at the same time as vegetarian Zen cuisine. Although it is called tofu, white sesame tofu does not contain soy. It can therefore be stored at room temperature for a year. Produced in the city of Sasebo (Nagasaki), this sesame tofu has been made in a traditional way for 3 generations, from wild kuzu, brown sugar produced on the island of Kikai and sesame seeds. These are roasted and reduced to a paste by the producer.
Flavor : Sweet, roasted with a peanut taste. Creamy texture close to pudding.
Usage : Black sesame tofu can be eaten as such. which, as a starter sprinkled with shiso flakes or served in thin slices, vegetarian sashimi style, with a little oil and wasabi. You can also enjoy it in a sweet version, sprinkled with kinako, matcha, coconut shavings or with honey. This product is ideal for vegetarian and vegan diets.
