According to legend, the animals associated with the Japanese zodiac were chosen by a Divinity, in order to differentiate the years. In fact, this god had the idea of inviting thirteen animals to join him on a mountain for a party, telling them not to be late. They arrived in the following order, which has since determined the order of years in the Japanese calendar: the rat, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey , the rooster, the dog and the wild boar. Legend has it that the rat came first by cunning. Indeed, he played with the lazy cat by not transmitting the right information about the time of the festivities and made the trip on the back of the ox.
