Cat
Many legends from Japanese folklore feature the cat, and while it can be a symbol of happiness, it can also be frightening. Thus, the Bakeneko and Maneki-neko are opposed.
Maneki-neko: A maneki-neko, also known as a lucky cat, is a traditional Japanese ceramic or porcelain statue of a cat sitting with its paw(s) raised at ear level.
The Bakaneko: This evil cat haunts its home by threatening the household and throwing fireballs. It is often described as standing on its hind legs, taking on human form. It is a cat with supernatural powers that it acquires by reaching one (or more) of these characteristics: an age of thirteen years, a weight of more than 3.5 kg or a very long tail. It sometimes happens that the tail splits in two, making the bakeneko a nekomata.
