The short curtains hanging at the door of the shops in Japan are called ' Noren'. they are mostly hung at hte entrance of shops, Japanese style restaurants, japanese style pubs, and even small stalls on the roadside. Sometimes the Noren of a flourishing shop of long standing is of great hereditary value. Sometimes a noren is presented by one's friends when one opens shop. Today, artistic Noren are often used as times of interior decoration for the sitting room or kitchen in private houses.
